COVID numbers are climbing again in Sangamon County… and the county has now seen its first death from the virus in more than two weeks.
The county reported 35 new cases Wednesday, and has had 212 new confirmed cases in the past seven days… compared to 100 cases for the previous week. The latest fatality was an unvaccinated woman in her 90s. It’s the first local COVID death since April 4th, and brings the countywide death toll since the start of the pandemic to 377.
Five Sangamon County residents are currently hospitalized with the virus, up from two less than a week ago.
