A Springfield man has been found guilty of federal charges in the 2019 shooting death of a sheriff’s deputy in Northern Illinois.

42-year-old Floyd Brown was convicted Friday of second-degree murder in the death of Jacob Keltner, a McHenry County deputy who was serving on a task force attempting to serve an arrest warrant on Brown. Brown had been wanted on a string of Downstate burglaries.

The jury acquitted Brown on a first-degree murder charge, but convicted him on second-degree murder and several other felony charges.
