Sangamon County, Capital Township, and other local governmental bodies have signed off on an extension and expansion of the Madison Park Place TIF District, clearing the way for Illinois lawmakers to approve the measure before this week’s scheduled adjournment.
Unlike other recent TIF extensions which were held up because of resistance from other governmental units, Mayor Jim Langfelder says the city has full backing to extend this TIF for another 12 years.
The boundaries are also being expanded to include the former Pillsbury Mills site, which may help generate additional dollars for redevelopment of the property.
