Sangamon County Sheriff’s deputies have made multiple arrests in a raid on a suspected “drug den” in Springfield.

Members of the county’s drug interdiction team, DIRT, were investigating reports of drug activity at a home on North 19th Street. Officers made several controlled purchases of methamphetamine. Police also found drugs in two vehicles during traffic stops made in conjunction with the investigation. That led officers to obtain a search warrant. Members of the DIRT team and the county’s Tactical Response Unit seized suspected meth and heroin, along with drug paraphernalia. The owner of the home, 48-year-old Mark Estes, who was already on probation for drug and sex crime charges, was arrested. Sixteen other people were also in the home.

Three were arrested, one on possession of meth and two on outstanding warrants. The others were released.
