Faculty members at the University of Illinois Springfield warn a strike is possible if there is no progress toward a collective bargaining agreement.
Members of UIS United Faculty staged a rally on the campus Thursday to press administrators to, in the union’s words, “get serious” about negotiating a new contract. The previous agreement expired last August. The union says it has been in negotiations for more than a year, including sessions with a federal mediator, but says the two sides remain far apart.
The union says there are several areas of disagreement, but salary is one of the major sticking points.
