More than 20 Springfield firefighters were needed to assist in the rescue of a woman who became trapped in a downtown office building elevator Friday.

A power outage apparently caused the elevator malfunction. Nine members of the department’s Technical Rescue Team were among those dispatched to the scene. It took about an hour to get the woman out through the top of the elevator in the Bucari Building on South 6th Street.

She was not injured.
