Springfield firefighters have ratified a new contract, and that tentative agreement now goes before the Springfield City Council.
The union’s most recent contract was approved in 2019 and expired in February of 2021… firefighters had been working under the terms of that expired contract while talks continued. Neither side will yet discuss provisions of the agreement publicly, including whether it makes any changes to the minimum staffing levels required for every shift, every day.
Springfield aldermen are expected to vote on the agreement next month.
