The attorney in the case that left Illinois’s school mask mandate in legal limbo is now seeking a contempt of court citation against Chicago Public Schools.

Attorney Thomas DeVore says the children of his clients in the lawsuit were allowed to attend classes in Chicago without masks last week… but says now are being required to wear masks again. DeVore says that violates the order from Sangamon County Judge Raylene Grischow, who ruled that Governor JB Pritzker overstepped his authority in ordering masks in schools.

But the Chicago Teachers Union says the mask mandate in Chicago schools was worked out as part of a collective bargaining agreement, not because of state executive orders, and says therefore the judge’s ruling is not applicable.
