Many Republicans Steer Clear Of Questions About RNC Statement On January 6th Riot

Illinois GOP Congressman Adam Kinzinger says all Republican candidates this year should have to answer whether they think the January 6th, 2021 riots at the U.S. Capitol were “legitimate political discourse.”

That’s the phrase used by the Republican National Committee in its censure resolution against Kinzinger and fellow GOP Representative Liz Cheney of Wyoming for serving on the Select Committee that’s investigating the assault on the Capitol and its origins. But many Republicans are dodging the question. GOP candidate for governor Darren Bailey abruptly ended a Springfield news conference Wednesday when he was asked about it.

And local Republican congressmen Rodney Davis and Darin LaHood have so far not responded to numerous requests from WMAY News for comment on the RNC censure resolution.
