Consultant Says Sprinklers In New Construction, Mayor Says No

The consultant who studied the Springfield Fire Department says the city should promote fire safety by pursuing an ordinance requiring sprinkler systems in new construction, including residential dwellings.

But Mayor Jim Langfelder is already shooting down that idea.

Langfelder says such a requirement would be too expensive for builders and developers, and says he’s not inclined to support such a mandate.
