Illinois lawmakers will stay away from the Capitol for at least another week, but could return in early February if COVID numbers keep declining.

The legislature has been working remotely amid the latest surge in cases, but House and Senate officials say their plan is to be back in Springfield on February 1st to resume in-person work.

Governor JB Pritzker is scheduled to deliver his budget address on Wednesday, February 2nd, but it’s still not known if Pritzker will make the traditional address in front of a joint legislative session, or if he’ll deliver the speech virtually.
