Medicine for the soul! Singer, Maggie Brown, graces the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum with her amazing talent, closing out the State of Sound Exhibit.  I have had the opportunity to check this exhibit out twice, and I can’t recommend it enough. State of Sound is an all-encompassing review and history of Illinois Music. When you see it laid out like it is, the scope of music to come from this state is inspiring.

Maggie Brown mixes jazz, R&B, soul and also spoken word. Her show “Legacy: Our Wealth of Music,” discusses the history of African American music.

Brown will appear in the ALPLM’s Union Theater at 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 13 Reserve your free seats at https://bit.ly/3q2b7dZ. Doors open at 6 p.m. and guests can experience the “State of Sound: A World of Music from Illinois” before her show begins.
