With COVID cases soaring locally, a Springfield school board member thinks District 186 should consider a temporary return to remote learning until the latest spike settles down. But the district says for now, it still intends to resume full in-person instruction on January 10th after the holiday break.

Board member Micah Miller tells the State Journal-Register that the district should consider an “adaptive pause” to prevent further spread of the virus and additional strain on local hospitals.

In a statement, the district says in keeping with state policy, it remains committed to resuming in-person instruction on January 10th if at all possible.
