Springfield aldermen have advanced a measure to expand the city’s economic development commission to include members from other taxing bodies… even as they express frustration that their efforts at cooperation are not being reciprocated.

As part of the recent deal to extend the Enos Park TIF District, the city agreed to give seats on the commission to appointees from Sangamon County, Capital Township, and other governmental bodies. Alderwoman Kristin DiCenso says it’s galling, since the county continues to block city participation on the county board of health.

But she says the city may have to deal with an unfair situation because the TIF agreement is too important to take a chance on blowing up the agreement.
