Severe Storms Bring Down Trees, Power Lines In Springfield, Surrounding Areas

Some damage is reported in the Springfield area after Friday night’s severe storms, including a confirmed tornado touchdown in Menard County.

The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office responded to at least four reports of trees down in roadways because of winds that topped 60 miles an hour Friday night. There were also multiple power lines down, and widespread power outages were reported across Central Illinois.

There was no immediate report of injuries in the Springfield area.
