62% of Restaurant Workers Have Suffered Emotional Abuse and Disrespect From Customers.

A recent study shows that 62% of restaurant workers have suffered emotional abuse and disrespect from customers. Reason being?– Slower service and mask requirements! 78% of workers are saying it’s taken a toll on their mental health over the past year. In fact, a lot of restaurants have started joining the “Please be kind campaign”, urging the public to be just that, when they go out for a bite.

Honestly, it baffles me how little people pay attention to what others are going through. Most of the time, these essential employees have been busting their butts at work with little help. They’ve had to deal with rude customers all day long, and still, somehow put on a smile for us. I can only imagine how much of a toll that takes on their mental health! Which then raises the question— Who takes the time to care about their mental health? Because it’s clearly not the general public.

It is my opinion that we should start going in to these restaurants with more compassion for others and what they might be going through.

To put it simply, lose the attitude, or just leave the restaurant!
