“The pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” ~Winston Churchill
With all the negative things going on in the world, staying positive sometimes is the HARDEST thing to do. Maybe you aren’t happy with the way your life is going, how a relationship recently ended, or maybe things just aren’t going your way. According to Forbes, “Today, this mechanism breeds pessimism and negativity through the mind’s tendency to wander until it finds a threat. These “threats” magnify the perceived likelihood that things are going—and/or are going to go—poorly.”
Not only does being pessimistic mess with that inner voice, and your confidence but can also cause health problems like sleep disorders, anxiety, high blood pressure, and heart disease, according to Psychology Today.
Having a positive mindset can become very difficult, and something that is known to boost creativity, confidence, and motivate you more, is actually quite simple. it’s just breathing.
Meditation and breathwork are some of the many things that can help you through the stress you are feeling. The last thing we want to hear when we are upset is, “Take a deep breath,” but it’s actually one of the things that help us the most. Feeling anxious, stressed, overwhelmed? BREATHE.
What you put into your body also can affect your mood. You wouldn’t put poor quality or cheap gas in a BMW, so why would you do the same to your body? Your body is a temple and though it’s always great to eat greasy foods and sweets, it can also make you FEEL icky as well. Try and eat a healthier diet, not only will you feel less tired, but it will also put you in a better mood.
Another thing is to try focusing on the good! If you believe things are awful, of course, you’ll find the evidence to support that belief. And if you believe life is a gift then you’ll find that evidence to support it too. In the words of Willie Nelson, “Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results.”
