Survey Finds Strong Support For Teachers And Education

Illinoisans say they strongly support public education… think more money should be directed toward schools… and want more policies in place to attract and retain good teachers.

 

Those are the takeaways from the annual “State of Education” survey commissioned by the Illinois Education Association. The state’s largest teachers’ union says the survey of 1,000 adults also finds that 51-percent of those surveyed believe teachers are underpaid, and 77-percent support student loan forgiveness for public school teachers.

 

And despite ongoing controversy over critical race theory, the survey finds widespread support for teaching children about the effects of slavery and racism in America.
