A Taylorville man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison on federal drug charges.

37-year-old Donald Felton was convicted last year for possession of nearly one pound of pure methamphetamine, also known as “ice,” with the intent to distribute.

Agents conducting a drug investigation in 2019 trailed Felton to a rest stop near St. Louis, where he met with an unknown man and then returned to Taylorville.

There police executed a traffic stop and found the drugs, a digital scale, and $800 cash.

In imposing the sentence, the judge in the case noted Felton’s long criminal history and the devastating impact of meth on Central Illinois communities.
