A proposal to expand instruction in yoga and “mindfulness” in Springfield public schools remains on hold.

The school board discussed the idea for the second straight meeting Monday night but still hasn’t voted on whether to approve the proposal, amid concerns about cost and effectiveness.

Federal COVID relief dollars would be used for the instruction, which has already been in place at Butler Elementary School but would be expanded to more schools under the pilot program.

Supporters say it’s a good way to help children deal with stress and emotions, but some board members say they still have questions.
