The top official for academic affairs at the University of Illinois Springfield has resigned, months after faculty took a vote of no confidence against him.

Dennis Papini had served as vice chancellor of academic affairs and provost since 2017… but faculty members had accused him of mismanaging school enrollment and failing to hold university employees accountable for violations of policy.

In a message to the campus, Chancellor Janet Gooch said Papini had transformed academic offerings to meet the needs of students, among many “commendable achievements.” Papini will return to a faculty role while a search gets underway to find his replacement.
