Springfield has landed another round of federal funding for the ongoing railroad relocation project.
The nearly $20 million federal RAISE grant will pay for an overpass on North Grand Avenue near Lanphier High School. The effort to consolidate most rail traffic in Springfield on the 10th Street corridor has included the creation of multiple overpasses and underpasses so that cars, pedestrians, and emergency vehicles do not have to directly cross the tracks.
The North Grand project is one of the final phases of the decade-long railroad relocation project.
