The Illinois congressman who serves on the January 6th select committee says he believes a lot of former President Donald Trump’s actions surrounding the 2020 election rise to the level of criminal conduct.

Appearing live on WMAY, Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger said Trump’s efforts to overturn the election amount to a “failed coup,” and says that cannot be tolerated. Kinzinger pointed specifically to Trump’s efforts to persuade Georgia officials to “find” the votes needed to let him declare victory there, as well as the “Eastman memo” which laid out a strategy of simply rejecting electors from states that Joe Biden won.

Kinzinger says more evidence of Trump’s misconduct will come out when the committee’s hearings resume this fall.
