Two law enforcement organizations are throwing their support behind Republican candidates for statewide office.
The Illinois and Chicago chapters of the Fraternal Order of Police are backing Darren Bailey for governor and Thomas DeVore for attorney general. The Illinois FOP had initially endorsed Bailey’s primary opponent Richard Irvin, saying he had the best shot of unseating Governor JB Pritzker… but the group now says that Bailey proved them wrong with his decisive primary victory.
The police groups say both men deserve the nod because of their opposition to the “SAFE-T Act,” the policing reform law that the FOP says makes the jobs of cops more difficult and dangerous.
