Governor JB Pritzker says he’s “furious” about the deadly shooting at a Fourth of July parade in Highland Park, and vows that he will take action to “end this plague of gun violence.”

In remarks in Highland Park hours after Monday’s attack, Pritzker said the Founding Fathers carried muskets, not assault weapons, and said he doubted that any of them would have said there’s a constitutional right to carry an assault weapon with a high-capacity magazine.

Pritzker says the deaths and injuries in Highland Park should serve as a “call to action,” but did not identify what specific legislative steps he is proposing.
