More than $58 million in upgrades to the Illinois State Fairgrounds are planned over the next year.

The work includes repair work that is already underway at the Multi-Purpose Arena, which will not be available for use during this year’s fair. That led to the cancellation of this year’s truck and tractor pulls and demolition derby, and postponement of a rodeo event until September.

There will also be new restrooms and seating, along with plumbing and electrical upgrades, at the Coliseum… road repairs throughout the fairgrounds… and new roofs and HVAC work at multiple buildings on the grounds.
