One man is dead after an early-morning crash Thursday on Interstate 72 east of Springfield.
Coroner Jim Allmon says 20-year-old Lucas Otto of Arthur was the only occupant of a car that collided with another vehicle on eastbound I-72 at mile marker 117, three miles east of the Buffalo exit. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 1:30 Thursday morning.
Otto was a pitcher with the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes baseball team. The team canceled its Thursday night game in Quincy out of respect to Otto and his family.
