One of the Republican candidates for Illinois Secretary of State says he can save taxpayers “millions of dollars” by improving efficiency and cutting fraud and waste in the office.

Former Sangamon County State’s Attorney and U.S. Attorney John Milhiser is one of two Republicans seeking the nomination for the open seat being vacated by Jesse White. Appearing live on WMAY, Milhiser did not offer specifics on how he would improve office operations or where such waste exists. He says he would conduct a full audit of Secretary of State operations to determine where changes should be made.

Milhiser says that could mean cutting jobs and closing some Secretary of State facilities around the state… but he says it’s also possible that more facilities may be needed in some parts of Illinois.
