The Minneapolis Tribune is reporting what many have already suspected.
Prince was found unconscious and unresponsive in the elevator of his Paisley Park home and recording studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota on April 21st. An autopsy was performed the following day – though the results of that procedure have yet to be released.
Rumors started surfacing that the iconic musician had been abusing prescription pain killers. Family members, through their attornies, have alleged Prince was addicted to Percocet and was using pain killers to deal with the pain he suffered as a result of his performing and not for recreation.
CNN has reported that law enforcement found prescription opioid medication in his home and on his person. Authorities are considering the investigation into his death as a criminal, though no charges have been filed against any one at this point. Federal prosecutors and the Drug Enforcement Administration are now looking into how the prescriptions were obtained and who was writing them.
