The author passed away in her hometown Monroeville, Alabama at the age of 89.
To many of us, To Kill A Mocking Bird was the quintessential American novel and Atticus Finch was the ultimate hero. He stood up to racism in the south in the depression era and, though he didn’t prevail, he still did what was right. The novel would earn her a Pulitzer Prize in 1961.
