From glorified bank robber Hans Gruber to Headmaster Snape, Rickman had a varied career.
The British actor first rose to fame in the US starring with Bruce Willis in Die Hard, but he had a varied career through out his life. Though before that he was “Vicomte de Valmont” in “Les Liaisons Dangereuses” on Broadway in 1987 and was even nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in the role.
In fact, Rickman received many nominations for a variety of awards through out his career including Best Supporting Actor nods from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films
for Robinhood Prince of Thieves (1992), Galaxy Quest (1999), Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2008) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2012)
In 1996 the actor won a Prime Time Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Special for his role as Grigori Rasputin in Rasputin
The Hollywood Reporter reported he died from cancer on Thursday at the age of 69. A statement from the family said he was surrounded by family and friends at the time of his passing.
