She was warned by the rescuers of her first accident to not cross the highway and tragically her decision proved to be fatal.
25 year-old Brittany Leith from Long Island, New York was coming home from a friend’s house when her vehicle struck the center median, flipped and came to rest in the left lane of the highway.
Leith was able to escape the wreckage and make it safely to the far right shoulder. However, she returned to her vehicle to retrieve her purse when a passing motorist sideswiped her car, striking and killing her instantly.
Police say the driver who struck Leith did not have drugs or alcohol in his system and will not face any charges.
Leith leaves behind a 3 year-old daughter, according to her grandmother Anna Leith.
