It’s hard to miss the red kettles of the Salvation Army during the holidays. We’ve all dropped a few bucks into them, at one point or another.
But, one couple in Minnesota has made a drop into a kettle that has turned heads around the country.
An anonymous couple in the Minneapolis-St Paul area recently made a $500,000 donation to the Salvation Army at a grocery store kettle.
The couple, who had tipped off Salvation Army officials of the large donation ahead of time, say that they had themselves experienced poverty in their lifetime and recalled relying on scraps thrown out by grocery stores.
