A GoFundMe campaign has been setup to help get holiday lights put on the Capitol Building in Downtown Springfield during the current budget mess.
While the state is deep in debt and a budget has yet to be passed, state officials decided to forgo stringing holiday lights at the Capitol this year.
Secretary of State officials say that the decision will save the state an estimated $7,300.
Kristina Rasmussen has stated a GoFundMe campaign to help raise the money to get the lights up in time for the holidays. No word on, if the appropriate amount of money is raised, if the lights would be put or if the state could accept the money at all.
