What is that old adage about counting your chickens before they’re hatched….
American distance runner Molly Huddle lost the Bronze medal at the World Athletics Championships in China after she raised both of her arms in celebration before the finish line. Not the word BEFORE- she hadn’t crossed the line yet.
She thought she had the bronze medal won in the women’s 10,000 meters and eased up in her final few strides to raise her hands and celebrate. Cue teammate Emily Infeld. She zipped passed Huddle at the finish line and snagged the bronze.
Huddle couldn’t believe her mistake. She says it’s going to take a long time to get over.
