Though I have never understood how you can forget your child is in the car, the new technology in an Evenflow car seat, may be able to stop that from ever happening again.
I cry every time I hear a story about a child inadvertently left to die in a hot car. However, with the all too sad and familiar tale. Evenflow introduces the Embrace DLX Infant Car Seat with SensorSafe technology comes equipped with a sensor that sounds an alarm after the ignition is turned off to remind parents that there is a baby in the back seat.
The seat comes with a receiver that plugs into the on-board diagnostic port under the driver side dashboard. That receiver links with a sensor in the chest clip of the car seat. Once the child is clipped in and the car starts rolling, an electronic link is established. When you turn off the car’s ignition, the sensor will immediately give off an alert sound.
Currently it is only available at walmart.com but will be available in Walmart’s physical stores next month. The car seat retails for $140.
While I am thrilled that there is something that may stop another child from suffering such a terrible fate, I am also saddened we seem to need this technology in the first place.
