Johnny Depp’s wife is in hot water after Australian authorities formally charged her with smuggling his dogs into the country.
While Johnny Depp was in Australia filming the latest Pirates of the Caribbean movie, his wife Amber Heard tried to get his beloved Yorkshire terriers, Pistol and Boo, to him. One problem, Australia has extremely rigid quarantine regulations for incoming animals to prevent the spread of disease.
Heard is now facing two counts of illegally importing the dogs and one count of producing a false document. Once Australian authorities found out that the dogs had bypassed customs and the mandatory 10 day quarantine, Depp was given 72 hours to get the dogs out of the country or they would be euthanized. Fortunately for all, the dogs made back to the states in time.
Amber faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and $75,000 fine for the illegal importation charges, and a possible year in prison and a fine of $7,500 for the falsified document. She was ordered to appear in a Queensland court on Sept. 7
