Governor Rauner just signed legislation that will bring happy hour drink specials back to Illinois.
The drink specials were banned in the late 80s due to concerns over excessive drinking. The measure was signed today (Wednesday) and will allow for drink specials up to 4 hours each day and up to 15 hours per week. However, the new legislation will not allow deals after 10PM and specials must be advertised for a week in advance. Volume drink specials, like 2 for 1, will remain prohibited.
The bill also requires all servers of alcohol in the state to take responsible server training and will take effect immediately.
