The Capital City Men’s Chorus (TCCMC), directed by Mary E. Myers, is conducting a membership drive for the 2013 spring season.
The Capital City Men’s Chorus is open to any male with a musical interest that is 18 years of age or older. Membership in the TCCMC is open to any musically qualified male who enjoys singing and is willing to give of their time and talents necessary to make each concert a source of pride for all members.
The Capital City Men’s Chorus holds rehearsals every Sunday evening from 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Laurel United Methodist Church (corner of Walnut and South Grand, third floor choir room) Springfield, Ill.

The Springfield Park District is once again hosting the always popular Bike and Hike Days at Washington Park. This program is designed to foster biking, hiking, walking and running within the park. CARILLON TOURS AND FREE CONCERTS |

The Thomas Rees Memorial Carillon, in Washington Park, will re-open for tours on Saturday, May 4. The Rees Carillon, a 12-story tower with three observation decks, offers spectacular views of Washington Park and Springfield from the city’s highest point of elevation. Tours are offered every 30 minutes on Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. There is one tour on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm. New this year, every tour includes a live carillon performance. Adults - $3.25 and children - $2.50.
The new expanded free schedule of concerts begins this Wednesday, May 1. Concerts are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:00 pm and Sundays at 3:00 and 7:00 pm. Each concert is 30 minutes in length. Robin Austin, the Park District’s Carillonneur plays a wide variety of classical, folk and popular songs. Enjoy the beauty of Washington Park and the
adjacent Botanical Center with the unique accompaniment of carillon music |

The Springfield Comic Book Convention will be held Sunday May 19 at the Route 66 Hotel & Conference Center located at 625 E. Saint Joseph St. This is near the intersection of 6th St and Stevenson Dr. The convention is open to public from
