  All Day Lions Club Rain Barrel Fundraiser   As a new fundraiser this Spring, the Springfield Noon Lions Club is selling rain barrels at discounted prices. Plastic 55-gallon rain barrels are available in black, blue, grey, and terra cotta for $70. Oak 54-gallon rain barrels are available for $155 if they are unfinished and $170 if they are refinished. Accessories such as downspout diverters and pedestals are also available. The brochure and order form can be viewed at www.springfieldnoonlions.com. Color photographs of the rain barrels are available at www.upcycle-products.com. Orders will be taken from April 1 until May 10. Rain barrels will be available for pick up on May 18 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at 829 South 11th Street, Springfield (at the former Glass Specialty location). Customers of City Water, Light & Power may be eligible for a $25 rebate.

  5:30PM 7:00PM Capital City Men's Chorus   The Capital City Men’s Chorus (TCCMC), directed by Mary E. Myers, is conducting a membership drive for the 2013 spring season. The Capital City Men’s Chorus is open to any male with a musical interest that is 18 years of age or older. Membership in the TCCMC is open to any musically qualified male who enjoys singing and is willing to give of their time and talents necessary to make each concert a source of pride for all members. The Capital City Men’s Chorus holds rehearsals every Sunday evening from 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Laurel United Methodist Church (corner of Walnut and South Grand, third floor choir room) Springfield, Ill. This program is designed to foster biking, hiking, walking and running within the park. Please note the park will be barricaded to prevent vehicular traffic.   7:00PM 7:30PM CARILLON TOURS AND FREE CONCERTS   The Thomas Rees Memorial Carillon, in Washington Park, will re-open for tours on Saturday, May 4. The Rees Carillon, a 12-story tower with three observation decks, offers spectacular views of Washington Park and Springfield from the city’s highest point of elevation. Tours are offered every 30 minutes on Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. There is one tour on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm. New this year, every tour includes a live carillon performance. Adults - $3.25 and children - $2.50. The new expanded free schedule of concerts begins this Wednesday, May 1. Concerts are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:00 pm and Sundays at 3:00 and 7:00 pm. Each concert is 30 minutes in length. Robin Austin, the Park District’s Carillonneur plays a wide variety of classical, folk and popular songs. Enjoy the beauty of Washington Park and the adjacent Botanical Center with the unique accompaniment of carillon music
 
  12:00PM 4:00PM Kitchens in Bloom Tour   Junior League of Springfield announces it's 21st annual Kitchens in Bloom Tour Saturday, May 5, 2013 from 12-4pm. This year's tour includes five beautiful homes in the Washington Park Area. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 the day of the tour. Tickets may be purchased at the following locations through May 4, 2013: Pease’s Candy (all locations), Robert’s Seafood, Prairie Dental Group, The Wardrobe, Apricot Lane, Talbots, Corkscrew Wine Emporium, Whimsies & Notions/Sprout Fitters, Greenview Nursery, Homescapes, and BJ Grand Salon & Spa. Tickets may be purchased the day of the tour at 1400 Illini Road.
