  1:00PM 4:00PM Maple Syrup Time   Each year, on four weekends in late February and early March, Lincoln Memorial Garden celebrates this gift from nature by inviting the public to take part in the tradition of collecting and boiling sweet sap from sugar maple trees. The Garden’s expert staff and volunteers will serve as guides. You can watch and participate at 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday on two weekends in February -- the 16th-17th and the 23rd-24th – and two weekends in March -- the 2nd-3rd and the 9th-10th. The event is free. Be sure to dress in warm clothing and wear footwear suitable for the possibility of muddy or slippery ground. We’ll meet for a five- to 10-minute orientation inside the Garden’s Nature Center before heading into the woods to identify the perfect trees for tapping. After drilling a small hole into a tree trunk and inserting a spile, or spout, we’ll see the watery sap begin to flow -- if the night has been cold and the day is warm. Next, we’ll take sap to the evaporation station where it will be boiled until only the sweet syrup remains. You can look forward to tasting the sap when it comes out of the tree and again after it has been transformed into syrup. Work has its own rewards. After the Garden’s trees are tapped for the season, it’ll be time to pour maple syrup on fluffy pancakes and sizzling sausages. Everyone is invited to partake, of course, as we host our annual Pancake and Sausage Breakfast in the Nature Center. The event also features a Silent Auction fundraiser stocked with treasures and services donated by individuals and area businesses. The breakfast will be held two consecutive weekends in March, the 16th-17th and the 23rd-24th. Breakfast will be served on those Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to Noon. The auction offerings will be on display in the Nature Center throughout. Reservations are necessary for this popular breakfast to avoid the possibility of being turned away. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Please make reservations by calling 217-529-1111.
 
  10:00AM 12:00PM 1st Annual Easter HOP for kids with disabilities   We are proud to announce the First Annual Easter Hop at Erin's Pavilion on Saturday, March 16th from 10am to noon. We are Partnering with Renken Dentistry, Noll Medical Pavilion, Noll Cafe and the Hope Institute to bring you Health on Purpose. It’s a fun morning of activities for children with disabilities and their siblings PLUS great resources fro parents at our information fair. Come join us...it's FREE Activities include: pictures with the Easter Bunny, HOP Health Activity Course for the Children, Easter Egg Treats, Noll Cafe to serve Refreshments, Resource Information Fair.   5:30PM 7:00PM Capital City Men's Chorus   The Capital City Men’s Chorus (TCCMC), directed by Mary E. Myers, is conducting a membership drive for the 2013 spring season. The Capital City Men’s Chorus is open to any male with a musical interest that is 18 years of age or older. Membership in the TCCMC is open to any musically qualified male who enjoys singing and is willing to give of their time and talents necessary to make each concert a source of pride for all members.
